This tongue-in-cheek analysis is a demonstration of how easily spurious correlations can arise in large datasets. We also used deceptive techniques for visualization such as the color scheme for the chloropheth map. The point here is that everyone carries a bias, and biases can make your excitement for apparent patterns overshadow critical analysis. Exploring these techniques turned up to the n-th degree when asserting an absurd causation can highlight where we might be fooling ourselves and others when testing more plausible links.
